San Francisco International Airport Air Traffic Control Tower

Project overview

The SFO Air Traffic Control Tower project is a 12 Story High Rise building that was a unique collaboration between multiple jurisdictional agencies. Working with the FAA, SFO, BICE, and SFFD; REG Life Safety Division was able to coordinate the review, approval, and inspection processes for each of these authorities having jurisdiction with respect to their areas of work. Understanding each jurisdiction’s unique demands enabled REG to effectively define engineering and design requirements to ensure each agencies system was installed, programmed and tested correctly. Working in a fully operational International Airport presented many challenges of its own with respect to movement of manpower, access to protected areas of the site, material deliveries and the actual interface with the existing Fire Alarm, Security and Paging systems. REG Life Safety Division was able to respond and overcome these obstacles by working within the security frame work established by the General Contractor and owner.
