SFO Terminal 2 Renovation

Project overview

The original Terminal 2 for the San Francisco International Airport was built in 1953. The project includes a complete architectural renovation and modernization of all airport systems, excluding only the steel beam shell. At over 500,000 square feet, it is a large site with difficult logistics and in close proximity to operating aircraft on live runways.

The project consists of five new medium voltage substations, lighting and power, 400 Hz gate power, life safety system, emergency generators and power to new baggage handling equipment. The team utilized BIM/3D modeling to complete the coordination and detailing efforts.
